AMVETS DEPARTMENT OF ALABAMA SERVICE FOUNDATION, INC.

The AMVETS Department of Alabama Service Foundation is a 501(c)(3) fundraising engine of the AMVETS Department of Alabama. We raise money to support The Department’s programs and services. Through grants and outreach programs, we lend support to other organizations whose programs align with our mission, and we make smaller, direct contributions to veterans facing exceptionally difficult financial challenges.

In military service, warfighters count on their battle buddies or shipmates to have their backs. When their tour of duty is over, or when discharged for injuries and wounds they can find themselves back in the civilized world within 48 to 72 hours. Can you imagine going from a combat zone and being back home in such a short period of time? Then most everyone expects them to act “normal.” However, when they return home, they are faced with new and daunting challenges – emotional, medical, financial and more – who is there for them? Who has their back then?
